Our Mission
Karen Society of Buffalo (KSB) is a community-based organization seeking to enhance the quality of life and to cultivate the self-sufficiency of immigrants from Burma, while preserving and sharing our cultural heritage.
Our Community
We are the Karen people, an ethnic group from Burma who had to flee our country and come to build new lives for our families in the United States. We estimate that there are over 10,000 Burmese refugees who have arrived in Buffalo over the past 15 years, a significant percentage of our diverse city’s newest Americans.
What We Do
We serve immigrant populations from Burma and their families living in Buffalo, New York. We serve all Burmese ethnicities, including Karen, Burmese, Chin, and Karenni. While our efforts are concentrated in the Buffalo region, our community events also draw Asian residents from Rochester, Syracuse, Ithaca, Utica, and Albany, extending our geographic reach.
